Dark Horse Deluxe's Lenore vinyl and PVC set
with jager
Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl, is a wonderfully quirky comic and animation from the mind of Roman Dirge. Her antics often include a cast of weird characters in which they often retell a classic children's story with a dark twist. Dark Horse Deluxe has produced some toys based on Lenore and her bunch and the character translations are quite nice.
Lenore vinyl
Here we have Lenore being wrapped up by giant python that just ate her pal Ragamuffin. Sounds kinda morbid, huh? Well, she is a living dead girl after all. However, the toy is pretty cute. She looks very much like the drawings in Dirge's comics. Her hair has cut in texture, the eyes bulge out, and the snake is fully realized while wrapping its coils around her legs. There are also some subtle sculpting details in the bags under her eyes, the wrinkles in her sleeves, and her skull shaped hair barrettes. The paint applications are pretty clean too. I really like the thin lines around her eyes to match the original drawings and the bronze spray on her skull hair holders. Her expression is priceless as she stares at us wondering just what she's gotten herself (and Ragamuffin) into.
PVC set #2
If you're more interested in getting some of the supporting cast in the Lenore line, then the second series of PVC figures is right up your alley. This set features, Taxidermy, Spam Witch, and Lenore herself. Let's start with Lenore. She's wearing her bunny battle gear and swinging a mallet meant for business. The textures of her suit are great and the mallet has a squished mouse on its head! The paint applications are tight and the spray on the suit is especially nice, giving it a dirty look. Spam Witch is the most complicated sculpt of the set, flying through the air with a huge rat about to attack! The play on words is really funny to me: Spam WitchSandwich... And it's actually a witch of living spam! The best figure in the set is Taxidermy. I love the look of this guy with his deer antlers and skin sewed on his head. Sitting on his chair and bear skin rug, he has some real character. This is a very interesting figure.
Dark Horse's Lenore line is looking really nice for fans of the series. Both the vinyl toy and the PVC figures are made with solid quality control and having the options of what direction you'd like your collection to go toward is great. But I have to admit, they look really nice together.
